Charming

I am involved in a charm swap - I have never
made a charm before, and this is what I came up with.

These are washers from the hardware store,
painted with acrylic medium, then red acrylic ink.
I created some loops from fine
brass wire (off a rioja bottle!),
then added punched hearts,
and gave the charms a couple of layers
of Opals Franklin, which holds it all together,
seals it and gives it a nice shine!

  4. When you put the Opals Franklin on the washer, did you just sprinkle it on and then use a heat gun? These are beautiful. Glad you joined the mixed media Yahoo Group. Maybe you'll come to Art Unraveled in Phoenix, AZ, USA, some year.

I sprinkled the Opals on while the red paint was wet - I painted the washer with gel medium (the paint kept wanting to bead, but the gel worked as a matte base) and then I inked up the paper heart and laid it onto the painted washer, and sprinkled the embossing powder on. There are several coats, each done while the previous coat was still hot. I used a crocdile clip on a long handle to grip the wire loop while I was working - I am not keen on burns LOL
