J ATC

I am taking part of an alphabet ATC swap,
where we make one letter of the alphabet each fortnight.

We started with Z and are working our way to A.

I was a bit stumped with 'J' - I could think of lots of words,

but not many ways to represent them.

I finally decided to stop hoarding my gesso backgrounds
and used some for this 'J is for jigsaw' ATC.

  1. Yay! I can leave you a comment now! :-D

I think the gesso I've got is way different to what you're using - mine's more like a paint. I sense a trip to the art store coming on...

  3. Adrienne I'm awed by this ATC with the gesso background! Can you enlighten me about how you did that? I've never used gesso in that way and really loved the background that you accomplished. Thumbs up.
    Thanks so much for sharing

  4. The ATC was made by daubing BLACK gesso (mine was made by Rowney) onto the cardsdtock thickly with a paintbrush, then stamping into it using a bold flourish stamp before it dries. Wash brush & stamp thoroughly before the gesso dries on them. When ATC was dry, I rubbed it over with Rub'n'Buff (Antique Gold). The J and jigsaw pieces are made of thick card and I painted those with black gesso, then gave them a couple of coats of one of the Stewart Gill Alchemy interference paints.
